i. am. an. awesome. mom.

Twice in one week...unheard of you say?  Agreed.  :)

  • Yesterday morning, Ty came upstairs as I was blow-drying my hair and told me he was ready to go school now.  I thought I was going to die from shock.  He asked to go to school???  Yeah buddy!
  • He decided he would let me finish my hair first.  So I finished drying it and then went to put my blow-dryer up and it fell on my head.  I grabbed my head because it didn't feel lovely, and then I noticed my straightener (that was on) fell on the floor.  Ty started to reach for it so I lunged forward trying to grab it before him.  He, naturally, got the bejeezus scared out of him and freaked out.  I couldn't tell if it was sheer terror from his mama or if he got burned.  He quickly calmed down so I assumed it was me, but then he told me his fingers hurt.  I am an awesome mom.  Sometimes I fell like if I say it out loud, it will be true.  I wish.  Long story, (kind of) short, we put a band-aid on it and went to school.  When we got there, he told Ms. Laura that I burned his fingers.  I. Am. An. Awesome. Mom.  It's not working.
  • Last night, Dad treated Tyler to whatever he wanted to eat for dinner.  Ty's choice?  Chicken nuggets, mac & cheese, corn, chips & guacamole, taco, and chocolate milk.  An interesting combination!

  • After dinner, Mitch asked Ty if he wanted to take a bath.  Tyler told him, "No, me not stinky."  Mitch said fair enough and Ty remained bathless.
  • Then Tyler told Mitch he needed to watch Toy Story and get snuggled up.

  • Today was the day we got new tubes and our adenoids taken out.  Ty wasn't allowed to eat or drink anything after midnight.  Needless to say, I was afraid this would be a bit of a challenge for the oinker.  With this in mind, yesterday I bought him a little Spider Man on a motorcycle to distract from no milk or breakfast.  And I bought a movie to watch in the car on the way because I knew as soon as we were in the car, he would want something to eat.  Smart.  That's what I am sometimes
  • Ty did awesome before, during, and after surgery!  From the time he was taken back (which wasn't as terrible as I thought it would be) to the time I saw him again, it was about an hour....not too shabby.  The nurses got him to go with them by saying two magic words: sucker and dinosaur.  I see how I rank.  Just kidding, I was relieved he didn't throw a fit when leaving me!!
Mom, no pictures.
I'm getting groceries.

Playing around in the waiting room.

Flirting with all of the nurses!!
  • When he started waking up, he was laying on his stomach on his bed and the nurse asked him how he was and what he was doing.  He told her he was "just hanging out."
  • Of course, when I walked in, he started whimpering and reaching for me.  Those suckers and dinosaurs got nothing on me!
  • He gave me lots of snuggles and cuddles when we first got home...then he got crabby...then he got CrAzY (that's where we are now).
Snuggles for his mama.
  • What is CrAzY you ask?  I will give a few examples.  1) Starts poking my nose saying, "Nosey, nosey, nosey..."  Then he laughs and does it again and again.  2) Performing the "Flying Peanut," which he now insists is the "Jumping Peanut," from every surface imaginable to every surface imaginable, myself included.  3) Rolling around on the floor.  It looks like he is playing Steam Rollers but there is no one else playing with him.  4) Getting his suitcase out of his closet and yelling to me that he "just has to pack up so he can go."  Um...I'm sorry.  Where are you going?
  • As I am typing, he is tossing throwing the football and then getting tackled by imaginary opponents.  I fear that I may soon have to be an opponent.
The football is starting to get dangerously close to me and the computer, so I think that means it is time to be done for now.  Subtle hint that Ty is starting to catch on to this whole blog thing and knows that one day he is not going to like it much?  Good thing I don't take hints well.  :)

Doctor Tywer

Hello again to all my friends!  (Quick, what show is that from??)  Straight to business today.

  • We got to see Baby Maisie and the boys again (and Aunt Heidi).  Tyler is still OBSESSED with Maisie.  He would sit by her and "guard" her like a dog.
Don't worry, I'll watch Maisie.
  • I guess it's only right Ty was guarding Maisie because he act like a dog a lot.  From crawling around and barking to taking his dry cereal out of its container and putting it on the floor so he can eat it like a dog.  I really should clean our floors more often.
  • At the farm, Ty and the boys were on fire!  They all take turns picking on each other, helping each other, tattle-telling on each other, etc, etc, etc. Overall though, they play together great!!  I personally enjoy how ornery they all are.  :)  From Freddie looking and Grandma and then intentionally dumping his juice all over the table to Tyler jumping on the couch and then stopping when we walk in the room and blaming it on Freddie to Gus  filling a sink with toy cars and water then blaming in on Freddie.  Poor Freddie...I think I see a theme.  Good thing we are I am smart and they can't pull the wool over my eyes! ;)
  • Ty also got a haircut.  Dad has been requesting it for a few months now, but I just kept forgetting when we were around his hairdresser (Grandma Wheat).  I finally remembered because he was getting Albert Einstein looking hair....
Albert Einstein no more!
  • After the farm, we went to Ark City for a baby shower (and a Cowley Basketball game).  Ty was not impressed when we told him he wasn't going to the baby shower for two reasons: 1) It was for Stephanie & Jeff. 2) He needed to see the baby, even though I told him the baby wasn't there.  He got over it fast enough because he got to stay with Grandma Karen.
  • He did go to the Cowley Basketball game with us though.  He was pretty into it.  He was going to leave with Grandma before the game was over, but he kept INSISTING that he needed to see Dane more.
Watching the game intently.
  • Grandma Karen has this little cow statute that Ty likes to play with.  He named is Maisie.  She even had to sleep in his/Grandma's room.
  • One Wednesday when Grandma Karen was watching Ty, she asked him if he wanted to go to McDonald's for lunch.  He asked her what that was and she explained it was where they could get chicken nuggets or a cheeseburger.  He got excited and said he wanted: Chicken strips, a banana, and ice cream.  (They sometimes get Braum's so he was most definitely referring to their food.)  Grandma took him to Braum's.
  • You know how most kids recognize the McDonald's Arches?  Ty recognizes the Braum's Ice Cream Cone.  Anyone that knows me well knows my sweet tooth is never ending so I love that he knows good ice cream!  :)
  • In the morning Ty-Guy usually watches a show or two so I can get ready. One morning he was whining about not wanting to watch whatever was on, so I was looking through the guide and saw "Dora" was on.  When I asked him if he wanted to watch it, he got mad and said, "NO MOM!  Dora is a girl show."  I wasn't sure I understood him correctly so I asked him what he said, he really wasn't impressed he had to say it twice.
  • Ty takes a bite of his lasagna and says, "Mmmmmm. This is dewicious."
  • Tyler, the Stinker, found a present that I had gotten for a friend's son (I seriously bought it over a year ago--->bad friend).  The present was a bucket with bath/water squirt toys and was in the closet that I keep the wrapping paper.  When Ty found it I was folding laundry and didn't notice he had it at first.  I figured it out when I heard tissue paper.  I went to see what he was up to and he proudly held up the buck, sketchily stuffed with tissue paper, and said, "Mom.  Look what I got you.  My birthday present."  I laughed, said thanks, and held my hand out for him to give it to me and he said, "Um. I think it is my Birthday."  Guess who has new bath toys?
  • Tyler got tubes in his ears in November 2011 and we go to check-ups for his ears about every 6 months.  When we went in December, we made a check-up in 8 weeks (last week) because it wasn't looking good.  When we see the doctor, he writes on his tablet and does his check-up on Ty.  After we saw the doc this time, we went to a waiting room to get a hearing test and then to schedule surgery.  As we were in the waiting room, Tyler got out his Magna-Doodle and starting carrying it around saying, "Me Dr. Tywer.  I give you check-up, Mom."  (Anything that looks like a tablet now means he is a doctor.)  In case you were wondering, surgery is Wednesday.  We are getting tubes put back in and also his adenoids taken out. I can remember how much fun it was when he was waking up from his anesthesia <insert eye roll and sarcastic snort> so I'm really looking forward to that.  Seriously though, I'm not complaining because this is way minor compared to other surgeries so I am just counting my blessings.
It's rough being this awesome.

So much more to tell, but this old lady is tired!  Have a great week!!!
