The Dragon Got My Blankie

Oh my, so much to catch up on today!  Therefore, let's get down to the nitty-gritty.

  • First of all, we have been loving the weather...even if it is only a tease here and there, we are ready!  Ty has been outside, or begging to go outside, a lot.  We got a new "bike," went on a walk, went to the park, yadda, yadda, yadda.
Where's Ty-Ty!??
Dad and his Mini-Me...doing hoodrat stuff.
  • Last Tuesday, Tyler got a new cousin, Ms. Maisie Rose.  She is the first girl in the family and just as beautiful and sweet as ever!!!!  Tyler LOVED her.  He wanted to hold her ALL THE TIME.
Tyler & Aunt Hanna holding Baby Maisie.
  • Tyler is now asking/telling me that he wants a Baby Maisie.  I told him to ask his dad.  (Although I said that, I think we mutually agree not yet...otherwise, it's just me...)
  • We got to spend lots of time with Baby Maisie and everyone.  Then we got to meet Aunt Ali and Dustin (and Shannon) for lunch.  Ty was a little bit crazy.  I think he was worn out from the festivities of the weekend.
Look at all of these awesome faces.
  • Although KC was a blast, there were some downers.  I felt terrible most of the weekend which really put a cramp on my baby-holding.  :(  Then Molly woke up Sunday morning and started vomiting.  Freddie had a fever and was out of it.  When we got home, Tyler vomited.    Seriously, he got out of the car and whooshhhhh, all over the garage floor.  And then more, but I'll spare the details.  We are all better, or almost...
Poor Freddie, but his Dad helped
make him feel all better.
  • As Mitch was giving Ty a bath, I heard Ty say, "No, Dad.  Leave the cup there.  It spill, I say I sorry."  Mitch tried to tell him it didn't work that way, but there is no reasoning with this kid!
  • "Mom.  You smell, take shower.  Me hold your phone."  Oh my little friend.
  • I almost stepped on Ty's hand as he was laying in the hallway on my phone (I took a shower).  ;)  I told him, "Whoa, I almost got your hand." He looks at me and sternly says, "Mom.  Say sorry, now."  What's a Mom to do??  I said sorry.
  • I was driving and Ty looks behind us (as best he can in his car seat) and says, "Mom, go fast!  Monster Truck is coming.  He gonna get us."  I think we watch too many cartoons...or his imagination is crazy.
  • Monday morning: "Mom, Grandma Wheat coming today!!!" I tell him that she will be here on Saturday for wrestling, today is Monday, so not yet.  "No, Mom.  Grandma Wheat is coming now.  She almost here."  I tried again, but it was useless!
  • Tuesday morning:  "Mom, Grandma Karen coming today!!! Almost here, I think.  I go look."  I tried to tell him Grandma Karen on Wednesday, and today is Tuesday. Again, no use trying.
  • On our way to school, Ty looks at me, very seriously, and says, "Mom where are my fruit snacks?"  Um...I guess I forgot school and fruit snacks went hand in hand?!??
  • "Mom, turn on the TV.  Now."  Well, when you put it that way, Love: NO!
  • "Hey Mom.  <insert sweet smile> Juice.  In sippy cup."  It wasn't a question.
  • A little before 5:00am I hear the patter of little feet running into our room.  Ty gets to my side of the bed and says, "Mama, the dragon got my blankie."  Must have been a crazy dream.  As a side note, he was holding his blanket.
  • Although the little man, Tyler the Terror, can be a turd, I will say he has pretty good manners (usually) and that makes my heart very happy!!  He is a sweet little man.  I don't know what I (or Mitch!) would do without him.  Okay, enough sappiness.
  • A few parting pictures:
Tyler loved his some pink blankets
It's rough being the King.
Now that we are all <hopefully> better, I will get back to the weekly schedule!  Have a wonderful week!!

Mom. Don't Sing.

I know my goal was to post every few days...but now my goal is once a week.  Funny how that happens...but oh the fun at the Pontious household!

I had a little flower in my hair

and Ty really wanted one too.

Who am I to say no??
  • In reference to the picture above, "We look good in whatever we wear."  That's for all of those Dreamphone fans...or people that have had the pleasure of hearing me say that on those many, many days I chose to wear a little less make-up.  :)
  • I was trying to do a quick workout video this morning as Ty was enjoying some delicious Fruit Loops and Milk.  I believe I was his entertainment.  After he had finished most of his cereal, he came and stood by me and started trying to do a squat.  He stopped and said, "Me not have on workout shoes.  Be right back."  He runs upstairs then comes back down in less than a minute with none other than his boots.  Whew!  Can't workout without those boots!
  • Now that the boots were on, he was ready to get his workout on!  I was doing push-ups and Tyler decided to join.  Apparently, I am terrible at push-ups, or the video shows them very strangely.  (I'm fairly certain it's the video.)  I will try to paint the picture:  Tyler laid on his belly with his his hands semi under his shoulders.  He then sniffed the carpet.  When I say sniff, he SNIFFED the carpet very enthusiastically.  Then he put his head up, looked at the TV, and repeated.  Needless to say, I could not continue to do push-ups because I was laughing too hard.
  • Today was also grocery store day.  When I pulled out of our addition, Tyler pointed behind us and said, "No Mom.  You went wrong way.  Steph and Jeff house that way."  :)
  • Ty-Ty found a shoestring by Mitch's closet and grabbed one end and started walking around, dragging the other end of the shoestring.  He drug it over to me, stopped and said, "This my dog Tucker.  Hush, Tucker.  He good dog, but barks lots."  Aunt Ali, I think Ty-Ty loves him some Tucker!
  • Ty has started talking out of the side of his mouth, and making some great facial expressions as he talks.
  • "Mom.  Don't sing."  Accompanied by a finger wag.  HOW RUDE!!  When it's bedtime, he cries for me to sing to him.  (He is really good at trying to stall at bedtime.)
  • Tyler set his milk on the kitchen counter and then went to the fridge and opened the door to get an orange.  He looked at me and said, "Oh no, where'd my milk go?"  I told him it was over there and pointed at the counter.  He looked at me and said, "No, Mom.  Say: Behind you."  So he asked me again, and I said, "Behind you."  He looked at the counter and laughed and said, "Oh silly me."  Then we had to repeat this at least five times.
  • We like to laugh really loud and obnoxiously.
  • Tyler likes to pretend that his cars are going to Kansas City.  All the time.  When we get to go to Kansas City (or Ark City or the Farm or anywhere fun) we can't tell him until right before we go because otherwise we have to listen to him whine and cry until we go.
  • Anytime I ask Ty if he wants a snack, he gets super excited and says, "Yay!  Fruit snacks!"  No child, not fruit snacks, just a snack.
  • Some of you know this, but Aunt Heidi is preggers and is getting induced on the 22nd.  A baby girl is joining the Cowan/Hein clan.  YAY!!  Whoop, Whoop!  I'm hoping after Heidi has her baby, Ty will stop telling me that I have a baby in my belly too.  I feel like that's his way of telling me to cut back on the M&M's.  Easier said than done.
As always, there is more to come!!

Whyioutta

Oh this little man just makes me smile!  I hope that you all find at least one to make you smile.  I left out lots...because who wants to read a post that is 10 pages long??  Enjoy!
  • We got to see Mr. Lincoln & Jill!!  Yay!!!!  We haven't got to see them in FOREVER!!!!!!!!  Hopefully we don't have to wait as long for the next time.

  • Then we went to the farm.  It was a surprise attack so only Hanna was home.  Tyler told Hanna all about his new puppy.  His new puppy that his Mama had no idea he had.  Tyler told Hanna he brought his puppy there, that it was right there.  He then pointed at the floor by his chair.  Hanna was a good sport and petted his imaginary puppy and called him a good dog.  Tyler also kept talking about him pooping on the floor and then he would get a towel and wipe it up.  What a good helper.  ;)
Don't worry A.J., I didn't take (much) money.
Reading Papa's paper in Grandma's chair.
  • Ty also had to tell Grandma Wheat all about his puppy and his friends in school.  Then he HAD to see and feed the chickens and horses.  Surprisingly, he was not happy to leave.
  • Ty's cowboy boots are his  new "staple" item in his wardrobe.  You would be surprised how well they go with sweat pant.

  • Want to know Tyler's new best friend?  His horse, Ms. Laura (that's his teacher's name).  This video does not do his interactions with his horsie justice.

  • Tyler also befriended a crayon box.  Yes, a Crayola Crayon Box.  He brought it to me and said "she needs bath, Mama."  He then put "her" in the sink and was getting ready to turn the water on.  I threw the box out of sink.  Ty got mad at me and told me that I "hurt her."  I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.  It's hilarious...but oh so sad at the same time.
  • Sitting around watching football one evening and Ty starts talking about all of the grasshoppers that are going to come out of the wall.  I was getting a little freaked out as he pointed to the vent on the wall and said, "they come from there.  Lots of grasshoppers."  I looked at Mitch, getting a little concerned, and he reminded me of a "Bug's Life."  Duh! Apparently, we have watched that show a few two many times...
Go Pack, Go!
(Sad day they lost...but we still love 'em!)
  • Ty-Ty was talking silly about something so I said, "why I outta" accompanied by the ole fist shake.  He looked at me as serious as could be and said, "Mama, me not whyioutta.  Me Ty."
  • I'm getting ready one morning and Ty opens the hall closet and gets out a bandanna.  The bandanna still had a tag on it and Ty looks at me and says, "look what I gotchu.  I got you present.  Happy Birthday, Mama!!"  Oh so sweet!  Except that I've had that bandanna for about five years (maybe that's my problem for having it that long...with the tag still on...).
  • Tyler has been wanting to listen to "Good Song" aka "Good Life" by Logan Mize (shout out!!) before he goes to bed.  After he requested that song, he said, "everything gonna be right."  Translation: "Don't worry about a thing, cause every little thing gonna be all right."  (Three Little Birds by Bob Marley)
That's all for today!  :)  Have a wonderful rest of the week!

Ouhauh! Ouhauh!

Sorry about the strange formatting today...couldn't get it to cooperate and I am tired of trying.  Happy Saturday!
The horse in time-out.
Skishy Fish!

Look what I can do!
In "Aunt Ali's" tent!
  • We had apple crisp and ice cream for dessert one evening, and Ty loved it!  When Ty woke up in the morning, I asked him what he wanted for breakfast: cereal, oatmeal, or pancakes (our stand-bys).  He thought about it for a moment, then said, "me want ice cream."  Needless to say, he was thoroughly disappointed when I didn't cave and give it to him.
  • Somehow, Ty is a freak about spilling things!  When his spoon makes the journey from his bowl of cereal to his mouth, he will yell that he needs a napkin.  And he will yell that until I get him one. Where did this clean freak stuff come from??  Couldn't be his mama!
  • Tyler and I were heading out the door, and he decided he wanted a banana for the car ride.  He went over by the counter where I keep the bananas and stood there looking at them.  Then he says, "me want banana.  Me like monkey in a tree.  Ouhauh, ouhauh."  I told him he could have the banana once I buckled him up in the car.  We went out to the car and I buckled him up, handed him the semi-peeled banana, and ran back inside to grab my purse.  I could hear Ty from inside saying, "ouhauh, ouhauh, me monkey."
  • Ty got new cowboy boots for Christmas and they were a tiny bit small for big-foot, so we took them back to Sheplers.  That in itself was an adventure!  Every pair I put on that kid, he said they were his and he would (try) to run around and show me how great they were.  When I say try, I mean his mama is way too for him to get away.
  • When we left Sheplers, we decided to stop by the farm to show off our new kicks.  It was around lunchtime and when we were close, I asked Ty what he thought we could eat at the farm.  At first he said popcorn, but when I agreed, he changed his mind.  He said, "No, I eat pretzels at the farm. <insert pause> Pretzels in my mouth.  Mmmmmmm."
  • We had an eventful weekend.  We went to Aunt Ali & Dustin's house to see them and Papa Dave, Brenda, and Kalyn.  Ty was not spoiled at all!!!  Saturday, everyone (minus myself and Kalyn) went to Fritz's for lunch and then the aquarium to see the fish.  When I asked Ty about the fish, he told me they were "skishy."
  • I'm sure Ty had about 50,000 funnies, but I wasn't making mental notes and that momnesia of mine kicked in...I will say though, Aunt Ali put a KU (YUCK!!!!!!) sticker on Ty's face.  Don't worry, when we got home, he still told me that Jayhawks were stinky. Whew!
  • And of course, when I dropped Ty off at School on Monday and Tuesday, the waterworks came.  Boo Hiss!
  • Tyler now enjoys putting his bath toys, regular toys, etc in time-out.  He will wait a bit then ask the object, "are you ready to be nice now?  <pause> That's awessommmmme."  He sometimes will put himself there after the toys, for no apparent reason, at least we think...
  • I asked Ty if he painted at school today and he said, "Yes, it's in kitchen.  Be right back."  He then runs into the kitchen and gets the painting off of the fridge that has been there at least a week.  "See Mom.  It's my painting."  He then makes both Mitch and I look at it and say, "wow."  He starts to walk back towards the kitchen, turns around and says, "I put it back on fridge.  It be safe there."
  • Lately, Tyler has been obsessed with putting everything in time-out.  He puts his toys in time-out.  He puts his shoes in time-out.  He puts his blanket in time-out.  You get the picture.

Time-Out on the Turtle & Other School Adventures

For today's post, I decided to focus on Tyler's school and some of the stories that come from there.
  • For future reference:  when I say school I mean daycare.  That opinionated young fellow I call my son responds better if I say, "time to go to school" versus "time to go to daycare."  I think one of the main reasons is because Dad goes to school everyday (aka teaches) and I used to as well.  Honestly and truly they are fabulous with Ty and he has learned some things, but most importantly he has fun!  This all leads into my next few points:
  • Although I know Ty has fun at school, dropping him off at school is about as much fun as touching a hot wire fence without the rubber boots on.  (See previous post, Begawk, if confused.)  He whines, fake cries, and says, "Mama no go.  Stay at school with me," and etc, etc, etc.  All that good stuff to really make me feel great about leaving.  His teachers all say that he's doing much better and is good now, so I know he's faking all around.  Honestly, I've about had enough of it to where it doesn't bother me as much....must be wearing my rubber boots most days!
  • A few weeks ago, Mitch couldn't get Ty so I took off work early and went and picked him up.  He was playing outside, running around with his buddies.  When he saw me, he yelled, "My Mama!!"  And then ran away from me.  Yea Ty, school is just terrible.  I believe you.  <insert large amount of sarcasm>
  • Over Christmas break, Ty didn't go to school as much because Mitch and I were both home more.  One day I took him for a few hours just so didn't get out of the groove.  When I went and picked him up, his teacher was holding him and trying to keep him awake because she knew I was coming early.  When he saw me, his face lit up and he gave me a big hug.  He then said, "Mom.  I'm very happy you picked me up today."
  • That very same day, as we are pulling into the garage, Ty starts telling me he was bad at school.  He told me he hit everyone, even Ms. Jenn (his teacher).  He said he had to go to time-out on the turtle.  His teacher told me he was great...so I kept asking him, are you sure?  I think you were good.  He insisted he was a bad boy and it made Mama very sad.  I finally remembered to ask his teacher about him hitting.  She laughed very hard and said he didn't hit anyone and he did not have to sit in time-out once.  Oh, Tyler, you have much to learn!  You are supposed to say you were good when you are bad.  Silly guy!
  • Tyler thinks his usual teacher, Ms. Laura, is pretty.  He told me that then got really shy looking and smiled.  First crush??
  • When Mitch and Ty were leaving school (in January) Tyler pointed to the school roof and said, "I climbed up there."  We don't won't to hinder his imagination, so Mitch asked him why he climbed up there.  Ty's response?  "I put some reindeer up there.  But they won't fall down because they're reindeer."  Alrighty then...
This weekend was busy, so there is more fun to come soon!  :)  Happy Monday!

Guardian Angel

This one here is a little bit emotional for me...I debated whether or not to post it.  Mainly, I do not want to cause unnecessary pain to those I love.  After much debating, I have decided to post it because I hope it brings comfort.

A little background for those that do not know how our Tyler was named.  Mitch, and all of the wonderful people in Ark City, had the pleasure of growing up with a fine young man named Tyler Juden.  Mitch and Tyler were pretty close.  Their families were friends, they hunted together, played sports together, they caused trouble together.  For example, they got their ears pierced in D.C. together (the sponsors of the trip were terrified what their dads were going to say).  A few years after high school, Tyler joined the military and became an Army Ranger sniper.  Whenever Tyler was home, he would visit us.  I did not know Tyler as long as Mitch, but he made me feel like I did.  I loved him all the same and looked forward to his visits.  I was excited for the years to come because of the plans he and Mitch were making.  One September day that I will never forget, Mitch got a call that Tyler had been killed.  I cannot and will not try to explain that day, week, month, or year(s).  As Mitch and I were talking one night not long after, he said he would like our first son to be named Tyler.  I completely agreed.  A few short months later, I was pregnant with our little Tyler.

Last night, as I was finishing up my post, Mitch was putting our little man to bed.  Mitch walks down stairs, tells me he has the craziest story and gets a little teary eyed.  He tells me that as they were praying, Ty talks about Tyler Juden being a soldier.  Mitch had Ty repeat it a few times, because he wasn't sure he had heard him right.  He then asked Ty how he knew Tyler was a soldier, and Ty said he saw him.

Mitch asked me if I have ever told Ty that Tyler was a soldier.  I can't remember telling him that because I didn't think Ty would understand what soldier meant.  We do have pictures of Tyler Juden in our house and talk about him a lot...but still...for Ty to make that connection??  I don't know, but I do know that God has given our little Tyler one of the best Guardian Angels up there.  We love you Tyler Juden and thank you for keeping our baby safe!!!

Begawk!

Hope everyone is ready for the new year...because it's here!  My family had a great 2012 and can't wait to see what the new year brings.  Tyler is getting older, understanding more, talking more, and getting sassier by the minute...

We have had an eventful week or so here!  So much to say, but I'll try to keep it short.  Who am I kidding, that never happens!!

  • Friday, we got to go to the farm and see everybody, except Uncle Joe (poor guy had to work!).  There was a lot of funny stuff between the three boys!!!  One of my favorites was when Ty said something, I repeated it, Ty gave me a serious look, held up his pointer finger, and said, "Mom, don't say that."   I looked at him, and of course repeated it.  He did the exact same thing.  Hello, Sass!!
Eating is one of our favorite things to do at the farm!
Gus was still sleeping.
  • And we got to ride horses!  All of the boys liked it a lot.  While Ty was waiting his turn, he was walking around exploring.  Tyler's "Mom of the Year" was trying to take pictures and wasn't looking too closely...pretty soon, Papa Buck yells for Ty to watch out.  I turn around and he is holding the hot wire fence.  I run over there and get him and asks if it hurt and all he says is, my hands out.  I guess I get a very small bonus point for him wearing rubber boots.  (For all of you that have never touched a hot wire fence, it doesn't feel awesome.  Rubber boots help "unground" you meaning, you won't get shocked.)
Gus & Molly
Molly & Ty
  • Saturday, we went over to one of my aunt and uncle's home for a family gathering/Christmas.  When we got there, Ty was super shy!!  He wouldn't leave my (or one of my siblings) side(s) for at least an hour and a half.  That wasn't normal....after he got over the shyness, he had a lot of playing and catching up to do.
  • At the gathering, one of our cousin's daughters taught Tyler how to "begawk" someone.  To "begawk" someone, you oh so gently place their face between your two hands and yell, "begawk."  Ty missed the gently part though....we are getting "begawked" up in here like it's his job.  Thanks Norah! ;)
  • When saying our nighttime prayers, we say the "Angel of God."  By that I mean I say a few words, Ty repeats.  Every night when we get to "be at my side," Ty says, "be at Mama's side."  Hahahaa, thanks buddy.  I need all the help I can get.
  • Tyler is eating dinner, and he turns to say something to Mitch.  He started to fall out of his chair and hits his head.  Thanks to his (WILD)cat like reflexes, he catches Ty.  Ty does his little whine thing, then walks over to me and says, "I fall out of my chair, but Dada caught me like this."  When he got to "this," he puts his arms out really fast and jumps.
  • On New Year's Eve, Mama and Dada got to go see our friend's, Jill Martin and Logan Mize, perform at the Cotillion.  (On a side note, they are both wonderful and you should check them out on iTunes!!  Jill's music is available January 7th, but you can get a sneak peak on YouTube.  Logan's is in both.) Ty-Ty went to Grandma Karen's for the night.  He missed us at bedtime...like wanted us to come get him.  Of course, this didn't last long, he got over it fast, but I knew he liked us!!!!
  • When I went to pick him up on New Year's Day, he was on fire.  He told me about the dogs, showed me how they played football, and then he had to take a break to (pretend) talk to Gus and Freddie on the phone.  Whatever they were talking about, it was hilarious to Ty.
  • Ty forgot his listening ears in his room when he woke up this morning.  Therefore, I had to turn off his show.  The Sass tells me he is going to go wake up Dad.  After I bit, Ty isn't back, so I go to see what the holdup is.  Ty is laying in bed with Dad watching that very show I turned off.  Well played little one, well played.
  • I get home from work tonight and Ty-Ty says, "Watch this Mama."  He stands up on the NEW ottoman, and jumps to the couch.  In mid-jump, he yells, "Flying Peanut!"  The kicker is, when Ty says peanut, it doesn't quite sound like peanut...you can use your imagination.
I think my short is turning long, so I'm going to sign-off.  Hope everyone has a wonderful 2013!
