For today's post, I decided to focus on Tyler's school and some of the stories that come from there.
- For future reference: when I say school I mean daycare. That opinionated young fellow I call my son responds better if I say, "time to go to school" versus "time to go to daycare." I think one of the main reasons is because Dad goes to school everyday (aka teaches) and I used to as well. Honestly and truly they are fabulous with Ty and he has learned some things, but most importantly he has fun! This all leads into my next few points:
- Although I know Ty has fun at school, dropping him off at school is about as much fun as touching a hot wire fence without the rubber boots on. (See previous post, Begawk, if confused.) He whines, fake cries, and says, "Mama no go. Stay at school with me," and etc, etc, etc. All that good stuff to really make me feel great about leaving. His teachers all say that he's doing much better and is good now, so I know he's faking all around. Honestly, I've about had enough of it to where it doesn't bother me as much....must be wearing my rubber boots most days!
- A few weeks ago, Mitch couldn't get Ty so I took off work early and went and picked him up. He was playing outside, running around with his buddies. When he saw me, he yelled, "My Mama!!" And then ran away from me. Yea Ty, school is just terrible. I believe you. <insert large amount of sarcasm>
- Over Christmas break, Ty didn't go to school as much because Mitch and I were both home more. One day I took him for a few hours just so didn't get out of the groove. When I went and picked him up, his teacher was holding him and trying to keep him awake because she knew I was coming early. When he saw me, his face lit up and he gave me a big hug. He then said, "Mom. I'm very happy you picked me up today."
- That very same day, as we are pulling into the garage, Ty starts telling me he was bad at school. He told me he hit everyone, even Ms. Jenn (his teacher). He said he had to go to time-out on the turtle. His teacher told me he was great...so I kept asking him, are you sure? I think you were good. He insisted he was a bad boy and it made Mama very sad. I finally remembered to ask his teacher about him hitting. She laughed very hard and said he didn't hit anyone and he did not have to sit in time-out once. Oh, Tyler, you have much to learn! You are supposed to say you were good when you are bad. Silly guy!
- Tyler thinks his usual teacher, Ms. Laura, is pretty. He told me that then got really shy looking and smiled. First crush??
- When Mitch and Ty were leaving school (in January) Tyler pointed to the school roof and said, "I climbed up there." We don't won't to hinder his imagination, so Mitch asked him why he climbed up there. Ty's response? "I put some reindeer up there. But they won't fall down because they're reindeer." Alrighty then...
This weekend was busy, so there is more fun to come soon! :) Happy Monday!
